Atlas Award: Kingdom of Boria - medieval world
« on: May 26, 2011, 03:35:07 AM »
Hi all!

Here it is! My world map, Kingdom of Boria.
Including the medieval city of Boria, 7 small villages, farmlands and a customized texture pack :)
All is available in one neat package!

Okay, I'll admit, I got lazy and skimped on the furnishings in the city :) I suck at interiors and I'm sure you'd love to decorate your own little homes ;)
The city is also available as a schematic, but without most of the surrounding terrain, in a attempt to make it easier to incorporate it in your own world.
check out the links at the bottom of this post.

Also, if you do not wish to use my texture pack for the map, just be aware that you will find paintings in odd locations, since I' using them for more decoration than just normal paintings.. (clocks, shields, banners, shelves of bottles etc.)

Maps:
To give a bit of an overview, heres a couple of maps of the kingdom as well as the city:

Video Tour:
Here's a little video I tried my hand at, to showcase a bit of the city and world :)

Credits:

I included a  few buildings by others, which served as inspiration for the citys overall look, and which are just plain awesome..

These include;

- The Medieval Windmill by Jakabar
- The Storehouse by TheSchmittMeister
- The Half-timbered Houses by kddekadenz
- The Inn, house & lighthouse by Scuffgrim
- A few buildings from the City Project pack by Cordian

Most of these ended up being heavily altered and/or furnished, so as to suit my needs...
I would like to thank the above builders for sharing their schematics, without which I probably never would have started on my city :)

Download Link:

Kingdom of Boria world save (~20mb) - Includes both the world and the texture pack I use.

The city is also available as a schematic here. - It measures 361x227x73 :P

Enjoy!

EDIT: In order to find all my related schematics, they all get tagged with 'Boria' Click here for the tag-list

Partytiger. This is freaking awesome. I can't believe how quickly you have turned this thing out, but still maintained such an excellent quality and RPG feel. ++++

Love it.

Note to self: Must try harder.

Thanks guys :)

I wasn't planning on making an adventure map, but you never know :P
Until then I at least know that there are some who have been waiting for the map to use on RP servers and the like...

And yeah it is a very nice award :) especially for achievementwhor... eh awardfetishists such as myself :P I'm particularly fond of the exclusiveness of the Atlas club hehe..
Still a long way from both your level (awardwise and qualitywise) Tryne :)

Love the map, You filled it out really well.  The video is great too, could you briefly explain how you did it, cause I want to do the same for Himeji?

thank you :)

the video is pretty basic, just used fraps to film short sequences of myself ingame (with the GUI of -F1 you know) and then but it  together with some effects and some music in Windows Live Movie Maker :) very basic stuff really (and my first time trying out either program, so not hard at all to learn)  :mobsheep:

hope that helped you, I'm looking forward to seeing what you make :)
