Just a quick fun one from me. Calling it "Moment of Impact". Thought it was quite a novel idea, and nobody else had done it yet as far as I could see.

It's my take on a snapshot of the moment a meteorite collides with a minecraft world. I managed a mega fail at one point and accidentally set the whole thing on fire with all the lava  [laugh], so had to start from scratch on the meteorite again.

It's not perfect, but I got sick of tweaking it in the end. Fairly happy with the result. As a warning, it might look pretty wierd depending on your texture pack, as there is lots of glowstone used to light the thing up.

Dimensions are pretty big 181Wx100Lx93H (crater is around 30 deep).

Imported the egg shape using Binvox, then did the rest with a mixture of single player commands (worldedit) and MCEdit.

Tell me what you think, and feel free to play around with it and improve it if you wish.

Do you made it with MCEdit? Or are there other tools/programmes?

Process was as follows:

1) Was using a flat world someone else posted a link to here, dirt all the way down to bedrock.
2) Create the crater using a 55 or so round brush in MC Edit
3) Back to the game, and use the "//brush sphere dirt 1" world edit command to steadily build up the sides of the crater and impact zones
4) Use single player commands and block placing to fill the hole with lava/fire/rock etc.
5) Create the egg shape using Blender and import to the appropriate size using binvox.
6) Add all the comet trails manually using "//brush sphere dirt 1"world edit command
7) Clean up, you get lots of blobby shapes like this, so need to trim it to make it look more natural.
7) Manually place all the wool, glowstone etc. using the "paint" command, (plugin for world edit). Just replaces one block at a time.
8) Create the flying blocks by selecting a the region and using a command like "//replace air 0.1%dirt,0.1%stone,99.8%air"

Job done. Overall 2% Blender/Binvox, 90% In game using Single Player Commands, 8% MC Edit.

Tools are available to all, would really recommend getting used to using some of the world edit commands for single player commands, you can do some amazing stuff with it when you put your mind to it.

I imported the meteor (the egg shape) using Binvox, after creating that simple shape in Blender.

Edit: Missed a step. Used MC Edit to move the metor into the crater after I was done tweaking it. Totally failed 1st time and set the thing on fire, so had to reload to a backup and recreate the whole meteor again.
