Thank you guys, nice to see I diddn't waste the time it took to build it ;)
Ah I'm sorry, I ****umed that since MC and many of its tools are java programs, this would be known, my bad.
Jar is a java program (or library) container, basically an exe that runs on (nearly) every operating system, but internally, it's just a spezial zip file, so some overzealous archive programs snatch that file extension and open it like a zip instead of letting java handle it.

If everything worked, you could just double-click the jar file like an exe, but it seems like one of the mentioned archive programs interfered.
You should be able to start it by opening the jar with javaw (Windows: right click -> Open with... -> Browse -> javaw.exe in the java install directory (also tick the "always open with"-box so you'll only have to double-click next time)).
Thank you for explaning this!!!

Since the latest update, you should be able to just double-click the bat file. If that doesn't work, you'd have to tell me the exact error message.
If it's something like "Could not find main class" or "Invalid or corrupt jarfile", then you're probably trying to open the zip file, not the jar. Just unpack the zip and use the bat within.
(There are some systems where the bat won't work because they have a butchered path variable, but it should work just fine for most of you)

By the way, I nearly completed the upgrade to minecraft 1.5, I just have to wait for singleplayer commands to test the new blocks (powered rails, detector rails and the two new saplings)

are you using the bat file or are you trying to run the jar directly?

If you try to run the jar directly, please use the bat file (just doubleclick windows.bat), because that will give Schematic2Blueprint more memory to work with.

If you allready use the bat.. Wow, that schematic must be massive. You can open the bat in a text editor like Notepad (just a plain text editor, not Word or any other office program) and replace -Xmx512m with -Xmx1024m
This will give S2B a whole gigabyte of memory to work with, which really should be enough for any schematic
But note that fur such humonguous schematic files, S2B may probably be quite slow.

I've updated the program to include the 5 new blocks of MC 1.5 (Web (only obtainable through editor yet), powered rails, detector rails, birch sapling, redwood sapling)
I couldn't add backwards compatibility for the old saplings because of the way they're saved now, so any pre-1.5 schematic that included used saplings with a growth value > 0 are either wrongly represented (growth >0 <3) or do not work at all (growth >= 3). Thank notch for that.

I also changed the default background color to blue. It makes some blocks easier to see and after all, it is called Schematic2BLUEprint ;)
Download the newest version off of the homepage mentioned in the first post, I'm stopping attaching it here for the simple reason that sooner or later I'll probably forget doing that (also, there's no sense to it anyway.. it doesn't get any more secure by attaching it here, if I wanted, I could easely attach a virus here - but I won't)

You know, you guys here are great.
Usually, when I make a program such as this, it's treated in one of two ways: either total disregard (as it was with this one in the main MC forums where nobody even bothered to reply) or by something like "why did you do that <insignificant little detail> like this? that sucks and so do you!". Positive replies are few and far between.

And then this here, I get many positive replies and featured on top of that :D

What's the problem? I just tried it, link works fine..
EDIT: Two links diddn't work because this forum software seems not to correctly support BBCode (well, not the full one at least), but they weren't for the download, just for additional info

Hey thank you for creating such an awesome program, but I cant get it to work. It always says Could not open the file.
I hope someone ( Klaue ) can help me.
I'm happy to help, but I'll need some more informations. For example, when does it say that? When trying to start the program or when trying to open the schematic? And what exactly does the error message say? Just "Could not open file" or is there more information?

The only error message I put in that sounds similar is "Could not read file" - if you get that after trying to open a schematic, make sure your user has read access to the file (but I doubt that is the error message you get)

i would very much like to say thanks for a great program, but i cant run it :p

ive tried these schematics:
http://www.mcschematics.com/index.php?topic=251.0
http://www.mcschematics.com/index.php?topic=1594.0

but i get an error each time. Ive tried running the .bat and the .jar.

The message i get from the first one is:
Could not parse shematic (you got a typo here btw ;))

and the second is:
ran out of memory

Hope you can have a look at the first error (the 2nd is way to big for me to bother making :p).

=)

The second one is a rather easy "fix", just open the bat in a text editor and change the number after -Xmx to something higher, or just double it

The schematic file (the first one) seems to be in fact invalid. In the second slize from below, in the 32th column from the west and the 97th row from the north, there is a block with the ID 68, which is a wall sign. This Wall sign has the data value (for signs, the direction) 0, which is, as you can see at http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Data_values#Wall_Signs, not a valid direction.

The same thing (directional data of 0 which is invalid) happened again for a ladder at the 5th slize, 6th column and 138th row

then there's a ladder and a torch in a chest with a wrong damage value (that could be my fault though, I can't test chests because worldedit does not save their content)

(shouldn't have saved it as jpg. fragments ahoi)

Now, while the problem is not on my side but lies in whatever program was used to make that schematic, it seems a bit bad that the whole schematic can't be read just because of a few blocks. I made it a bit more error tolerant so that if it's just the blocks that are wrong but not the whole schematic file, it replaces the faulty blocks with air and tries to do the rest.
With that change, it is able to read the atlantis schematic (minus the 2 wrong blocks)
Just download it anew from the website

Ok I hope you can help me when I try to run the .bat file I get this error message as a pop up "windows cannot find 'javaw'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." when I just run the .jar file it run out of memory but I know that's just because the schematic is to large please help.
