Big Mansion with wooden roof (Download) fails to load with this error message:

Any idea whether this is a problem with the Schematics file or with S2B itself?

No, sorry.. Maybe import it using MCEdit and then re-export the important parts if the schematic contained the whole chunk? Or smaller parts if it's a huge city or something?

Any idea whether this is a problem with the Schematics file or with S2B itself?
With the schematic. Signs as well as chests have their content (the text or the items) saved sepperately. But your schematic has a Sign that instead of text has the entry of a chest, which is illegal. Maybe whoever built it used a mod or something.

can you please make it work for classic schematics too?
Short answer: No
Long answer: I still diddn't find the time to update it to 1.8 (even if ~90% is finished). I simply do not have enough time on my hands to support the classic format, as this would mean to pretty much do all the work that's allready in the prog again. Sorry.

I finally got around to update it.
Schematic2Blueprint is now compatible to all items of Minecraft 1.8.1
http://klaue.net16.net/programme/ownprogs/java/schematic2blueprint.en.php

It includes various small bugfixes and the following new items/blocks:
(of course, you'll probably never see the items as worldedit, for example, exports neither chests nor dispensers correctly, they always get exported as empty)

Items:
   Shears
   Melon Slice
   Pumpkin Seeds
   Melon Seeds
   Raw Chicken
   Cooked Chicken
   Raw Beef
   Steak
   Rotten Flesh
   Ender Pearl

Blocks:
   Stone Brick (Normal, Mossy, Cracked)
   Stone Brick Slabs
   Brick Slabs
   Stone Brick Stairs
   Brick Stairs
   Glass Pane
   Iron Bars
   Melon
   Melon Stem / Pumpkin Stem
   Vines
   Fence Gate
   Huge red mushroom cap & flesh
   Huge brown mushroom cap & flesh
   Huge mushroom stalk
   Piston
   Sticky Piston
   Piston Extension

finally... even just testing the new stuff took hours

Hey Klaue.
A big thanks for this tool. love it.

I have a feature request/bug.
when i load up a schematic and bring up the block count window, i can edit the ids and other values in there.
however, the moment i close the window, the changes are lost.
it would be nice to save the changes so that i can edit the block ids, types etc and then export the result.

This is indeed a bug, those values should be read only.. I guess I just assumed that the default state for the table was read-only ;)
What exactly did you think it should have done? Replace all occurences with one block type with another? I could maybe add a way to do this, even if I don't really see what it would accomplish ;)

Anyway, has to wait until I have time to update to 1.0 (which is probably in the last week of the year.. I just hope notch now concentrates on bugfixes and not new blocks - I don't play the game myself anymore and it's getting a bit tedious ;))

For example, a lot of schematics use the wool material. now all wool materials have the id 35.  dark grey wool, white wool etc are all 35.
i'd like to be able to change the id of any of the metrials listed there in so that when i export it in a text format, the new ids are used there in.

I myself am not a minecraft player but am working on a blocky game engine of my own. i often use the schematics here (after exported to a text fformat) to check rendering in my code, so your app helps me out a lot. hopefully, one day i'll be using procedural terrain generation. :)

I'm afraid that won't be possible. You see, while the block counter and the exporter use the same data store, so does the rest of the program. just changing an ID would make everything fail.

Yet, there's hope. As you are able to program, just take MCSchematicTool (Schematic2Blueprint is pretty much just a front-end for it) and make your own export, which includes the data values (those are what determines the type of wool, for example).
This code might work as it is, but I diddn't test it (it's basically the code I use for the text export, just with added data values): http://pastebin.com/pzDtkAPW

EDIT:
Of course, instead of always outputting the data value (which might contain stuff you don't want), you could always just catch the blocks you want to handle specially and change the IDs there. What I mean is, in the innermost loop of the code above, put something like:
Block b = slice.getBlockAt(x, y);
if (x != 0) sb.append(' ');
if (b.isWool()) {
    Wool w = (Wool)b;
    if (w.getColor() == Wool.Color.ORANGE) {
        // do something special like
        sb.append(w.getId()).append("-ORANGE");
    } else if (w.getColor() == Wool.Color.DARKGREEN) {
        // again
    } // else if....
} else {
    sb.append(b.getId());
}

I've just downloaded S2B and I have it in WinRAR as a jar file. When I download schematics, they go into Downloads as .schematic. I can't open them themselves, and if I go File>Open on S2B, I can't find any of them in my Downloads. Help?

EDIT: Sorry, I was being dim and looking in the wrong Downloads file. I can get them now. :P Although some schematics say Classic File Not Supported. Any help with that? :)

Well, you have some schematics for Minecraft classic (the free one). As MC Classic has wholly different blocks, it's not supported.
I just wonder from where you got them, as I haven't seen a single classic schematic till now ;)

Hopefully I'm not bumping an older topic but I am having difficulties with the program. I go to load http://www.mcschematics.com/index.php?topic=9495.msg64462#msg64462 with the Schematic2Blueprint and I get an error saying it could not parse the file. I also tried the MCSchematicTool and that says Failed to load Main-Class attributes. Not sure what's going on. If I could receive any help that would be greatly appreciated.

Tried that schematic with the "MCEdit" tool and it imports the schematic okay without any errors.

Don't know about this tool as I haven't tried it with that schematic and haven't yet had the time to load it onto my new(ish) computer, maybe someone that has it on their computer can give that schematic a try.

I would like to find a way to make the schematic into a layer-by-layer outline so I could build it on a server. I do not have the ability to use MCedit to do so, this is my only option unless there is another program. I used to use this program or a program just like it a while ago but my computer was wiped so I lost it.
