This is the floating island city from Gulliver's Travels (the novel) called Laputa.

I was inspired by an illustration that I found online, I have included it in the attachments.

It has a concealed central shaft instead of the room that holds the giant magnet as in the book.

It has a Boat Station with a 5-Boat dispenser that launches you down a concealed shaft, in case you want to place it over water.

It also has a minecart launcher that sends you down another shaft, in case you put it over land and want to fall onto a minecart track.

Because of the height limit, I wasn't able to make it as tall as I wanted to but if you place it against the height limit there will be plenty of space underneath.

I spent a week working on this, which is the longest that I have ever spent building anything in this game.

This is very cool, and don't forget that Hayao Miyazaki made this city in his movie Castle in the Sky. What are the dimensions for this? HxWxL?

I haven't seen the Jack Black version, and never will. I like Jack Black alot, but that film should just never have been made >:/

It's 150x150x51. But that's measuring from the bottom of the stalactites.

While finding out the dimensions, I realized that the .schematic that I uploaded was missing a big piece lol. It's fixed now.

I guessed that someone had made an anime about it because there were alot of anime scenes when I googled it. Which makes this an imitation of an imitation of Laputa. Haha :D

I'm reading about it on imdb and it looks really cool.

Dawson from Dawson's Creek does one of the voices in the English dub haha! I'll have to stick to the japanese version =P

Now that you mention it.. it does look like that a little bit.. I don't see any flying trains though

LOL but when you place the schematic in one your worlds and you see a gold stripe flashing by you will know for certain it's the observatory

I always wanted to build Laputa, but I never did cause its already been done on a much larger scale I thought I could never match. =S

Pretty good to say you did this one on your own though.

Great... someone beat me to it lol. Oh well I still think mine is pretty sweet, I can't watch the video with this slow slow net but I bet theirs doesn't have no boat launcher that sends you out of the islands underside =P
