Does the left-hand palette bar have to be so long?  Since it's using absolute positioning, and the bar is longer than my screen, I can't see the rest of it.

Pretty nifty -- I can sketch up a blueprint, then give someone the link and say "here, this is how you build it in redstone.  Pretty good.  Just needs text annotations.

Just hold down Ctrl and scroll out, then you should be able to see the bar. If you don't have it max zoomed already :P (not very good with browsers but it works with firefox so I think that it should work with other browsers aswell)
Friendship is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings!

Hmm quite useful, but I think I prefer this one: http://minecraftstructureplanner.com/

Did a quick search and was surprised not to see it mentioned anywhere in particular detail elsewhere in the forums, so here you go.

Has the same functionality as the above, but lots of other tools such as spheres, bridges, mazes, imports from images etc.

Highly recommend you check it out.

You can also theoretically import building floor plans (if you clean up the image a little first), then convert them to a 1 layer thick schematic to import into Minecraft.

The only issue I've had so far with it is related to memory for really big structures, something to do with java, I'm not sure, and the fix on the forums didn't work for me, but whatever.

If you could post me the error/stack trace from your memory problem I can take a shot at diagnosing it and potentially providing a fix.

Let me know.

Cheers,
LankyBrit.

I prefer to do my designs from a top-down viewpoint. Does anyone know of a tool that can do that?

Edit: I suppose I should look at the links already here first :)

I didn't see any mention of that on the website. Would you mind elaborating on this process please?

Well as an example:

1) Take your floor plans (see image 1 below)
2) Clean them up as much as poss. (image 2)
3) Use the "pixel art" function in Minecraft Structure Planner, choose the sizes. (image 3)
4) Do the auto conversion, or draw the lines in yourself. (Note you can also restrict what materials you want Minecraft structure planner to use, useful if the image is color to stop MSP using stupid items like noteblock and ores to make up the image.
5) Clean up the conversion as you wish.
6) Import into MC Edit and flip, rotate, mirror as appropriate. (image 4)
7) Giggle at how awesome that was.
