I would love to get my hands on a 50 or so diameter dome schematic. I would happily send you back a schematic of whatever structure I add it to so you can see your contribution in action.

A hollow dome I assume? :)

Inside

Outside

Minus the lightstones and hole I dug to get in, of course.

Very nice.  Thank you for the dome, I was planning on building mini bios inside of domes at some point after I could make my own, but you've saved me a lot of work with this.

Much appreciated.

Thanks for the feedback, and - Sweet! I like that bio dome. It actually only took me about 5-10 minutes to construct the dome using Minecraft and MCEdit together. If I can get the time, I may post up a tutorial with some pictures. If I do so, where on the forum should I post it?

I had thought I could say create (MCEdit) a brush at 50, then use a second brush of smaller diameter inside, but I still can't figure out how to insert these accurately. I would love to know how you did it.

As for the tutorial, I don't know. There's no obvious forum, but there's a general thread, maybe ask in there? I will definitely contribute to any tutorials added, I keep coming up with weird shortcuts to do things, lots of CAD tricks I thought I forgot many years ago.

To put it succinctly, I cut a sphere down into a quarter, cloned it, and used the Fill and Replace tool to "hollow" it out. Here's the full explanation.

you can do it easily on yourself :P when your using mcedit just go on the toolbar on the "brush" tool choose "round" and change the size....if you want it hollow do the same but with a 2block smaller size ;)

I think it is pretty complicated to create a dome with MCedit.
Just use http://minecraftstructureplanner.com/.
It will generate a lot of structures (Domes, Spheres, Circles; etc) for you and you can export it as a .schematic file
I guess that CJN85's dome was also created using this program (but hat do i know...)

Yes I used structure planner to do mine. The easiest and most flexible way imo.

Looks like i'm a little late here, but I made my dome in MCedit, using the hollow sphere brush. and put it on a big 50x50 block of sand so half was burried, and the other half was above ground. then just grabbed the top half and viola

//hsphere_Block ID (1 = stone, 0=air) Diameter for a hollow dome
//Sphere_block ID(See above)_Diameter

//hcyl_block ID_Diameter for a hollow circle, not a dome
//cyl etc, obvious

_ is being used as a space, you won't type the _ but a space instead.

I dont see why people found this so tricky, it's litterally a two click operation in MCEdit.

Unless of course - MCEdit didnt have the brush tool in november
You see that link that says "positive" under my name? Go on, give it a click. Its awfully lonely. Make it feel welcome.
