Fastest Minecraft Elevator

Hey guys. This is my first upload so bear with me. This is a schematic of an elevator which uses minecarts to propel you from bedrock to the surface in around 3 to 3.5 seconds. This design was originally done by monkeyfarm on YouTube and I modified it. Hope you like.

The dimensions are 9 x 9 x 57 meters. This schematic was copied while standing just outside the doorway of the elevator, looking inside,  and facing east (so basically, the doorway of this thing is facing toward the west). So if you want to paste it in any other direction, you'll have to rotate it accordingly. Also, you'll have to install the minecarts yourself. They wouldn't save with the schematic. Everything else is done for you though. Watch the video below to see how to install them. monkeyfarm does an excellent job of explaining how this thing works.

Very nice, works perfectly and I love how simple it is, completely redstoneless. Gonna be making these for my SSP map, thanks for sharing. :D

kool, np. glad i could share. like i said, the original design is credited to monkeyfarm who is a MC genius in his own right, but i did tweak it a little. so far, from what i've seen, this is the fastest way to get down to bedrock and back again.

To be honest, I doubt that monkeyfarm designed this-this design has been around almost as long as minecarts have been in the game! ;)

Also, these elevators do still work, I've tested it in 1.3.1 multiple times now (in singleplayer anyways), and they are very easy to build and very fast and low on resources. I'm not sure about the horizontal versions. (however I don't see why they wouldn't work if the vertical ones still do)

Unoriginal or not the schematic/design still works flawlessly in MC today and I'm happy that he decided to share it with us here on MCSchematics.

Hmm...they don't work for me...maybe the distance that you can get into a minecart has changed.

I never said that he claimed credit. I said that most likely, monkeyfarm didn't come up with it, because this design is absolutely ancient. In Minecraft terms, that is! :P

The amount of space between you and the next minecart is very important for this elevator to work properly, if the minecarts are out of the player's default reach it won't work.

I built mine using the exact dimensions of the pictures in the first post, height wise anyways. 3 blocks of air between each mine cart in the elevator (so a minecart on every 4th block) and it works fine. :)
