Ice Farm
« on: June 21, 2012, 09:41:42 PM »
Hello everyone, this is my recently created ice farm. As of late, (1.3 Snapshots i believe) silk touch is now able to pick up ice again. I haven't seen an ice farm on on this website yet so here is my attempt. I got ideas from JL2579's server tour #16 (http://www.youtube.com/user/JL2579).

This is a manual ice farm, meaning you have to control 2 levers. Due to being a terrible redstone user, the design is most likely alot more complex then it needs to be.

The design is not lit properly, nor is it decorated because i wanted to allow people to add their own personal look. This schematic is only designed to be simple.

The schematic is about 33 by 34 by 9 and should be placed grass flush to the ground. It produces 424 ice each harvest (Just over 6 and a half stacks). While using a efficiency 4, silk touch 1 pick, the harvest is approximately 30 seconds. The regeneration time for the ice is about 10-15 minutes (Estimate, again).

The snow blocks in the middle are the ideal placement for the quickest ice regeneration as all water source blocks are adjacent to a solid block. This causes the ice to generate all over the farm instead of from the outside.

How to use it:
Make sure the all the snow block inside the farm are lowered

Flick the left lever and allow the water to flood the whole area

Once completely flooded, press both levers so the water stops flowing and the snow blocks extend.

Wait for the ice to completely generate

Go crazy with a silk touch, efficiency pick.

If anyone needs a video of it in action, just say something.

I downloaded this just to see what i could do with it, and i managed to move around the redstone and make the schematic a little bit smaller. apart from that, it would be helpful to include a silk touch pickaxe with the schematic, to stop me having to make one
