Small lapis/gold city!
« on: June 16, 2012, 02:33:38 PM »
Hey hey, I'm new here. I'm building a new spawnpoint for this server, a BIG server, with over 100 daily players. Alot of pressure. So, I need to build a small city, like an ncp village, only with slightly larger houses, a decent church and maybe a few other perks like a town hall, town baths, park, guard towers ,barracks, etc. There are 2 catches here:
1) This is going to be built on a mountain range, so, you know, take that into consideration.
2) City has to have alot of blue and gold in it. Like, every building, even lamp posts.

I reaaally hope you can help me, maybe send me a link for a nice library, or a good set up for a nice village I can expand on. Or just build a whoppping city and send me the blueprints.

PEACE  :mobsheep:

Well I can give you a schematic of a gold library. It's cramed full of bookshelves though and the outside is just a gold box with a large doorway. It has a staircase leading to the roof, which is just a flat piece of gold. It's also pretty dark in there. It will probably need some work done on the outside and maybe some on the inside as well. I don't know how much use this will be to you but I hope it helps.

Ok, I posted some daytime pictures as well

I think it would be great, might work some other blocks/patterns into the walls to make it more appealing. Thanks for the post!

Ok now for something way cooler than a library- A golden wall that can be activated to shoot arrows. I've got a heap of stuff to say about it so here goes...
It has 4 dispensers stacked with arrows that is attached to a rapid pulser(shoots contantly when it's on) and also I've concealed it well. When off It's just a golden wall and when it's on a golden brick covers it between shots(mainly for show but it's cool to. It has a control room with instructions inside and a heap of ammo to keep it going. It is for the outside wall of your city and you should probably place everything inside it if you choose to implement it. It's also small so you need to place it multiple times to make a decent sized wall.
I've made a few different versions to cover a few weaknesses. Firstly It leaves a large gap between the two sets of dispensers. So I have made a compact version that can be made lower on the wall and a larger version, with more of the useless bottom layer taken out that has a watchtower made of glass so you can see what's going on. Also only the watchtower version covers all of the pistons and stuff but that's easy to fix.
I suggest if you implement it on a wall you put the version without a watchtower across the bottomwith the watchtower positioned on top but don't align the dispensers as it will leave a gap in the range. Also move it higher over the ground than I did with the early version or it wont shoot very far.
The last screenshot is the only one of the final product with the watchtower. The screenshot of arrows being shot is with my earliest version and is just to show you the concept works. The screenshot of arrows on the ground is about 10 seconds of fire of the early version, which has 3 dispensers.
I hope you enjoy it :)

Ok some more screenshots showing the two pieces combined in an epic wall thing that shoots really well. Ok it looks a little weird because I haven't combined it into a wall, just put them on top of each other with one to the side. The glass part is the watchtower and it usually has glass in front of the part I took the screenshot with but it looks cool that way and it was a quick way to the ground for my demonstration. The arrows on the ground show you how deadly it is.

I reaaally appreciate your help. I will definitely add the arrow wall (maybe for the bank, as protection, or maybe in the jail, to stop breakouts)
I would love it if you added more schematics, but although this is a gold and lapis town, it doesn't mean EVERYTHING has to be gold lapis. Use some wood and stone, and just make the roof lapis, or engrave a gold pattern in the wall.
ALL IN ALL ,I love 'em ;)

The designs aren't really interesting imo, just boxes filled with junk, try something like architecture?

@koosofzo: ouch! I can't deny that my designs are pretty boxy but the disguised arrow system isn't junk!
Lol yeah the wall decoration isn't the best I was just fiddling with dispensers and cool ways of using them and I came up with this cool wall that fires arrows. Also the library was a room in a partialy completed castle that i took out of the castle and made it gold. I tried to leave the decoration basic partly because I suck at decoration and partly because I wanted to leave that to you. Anyway you can make a wall now and add 'artitcture' around it so you have both cool weapons and cool design. I could make way cooler bank defence weapons if pistons would work on dispensers. Imagine the minute you walk into the bank vault dispensers rise up from the floor and shoot at you.
