Modern House with Water Features ::FIRST UPLOAD::
« on: April 29, 2012, 06:06:21 AM »
This is my first attempt at building something "architectural" in Minecraft. I'm not sure what happened to all the paintings I placed in the home or the beds but I'm still learning. I tried to focus on visually appealing materials, lighting and movement throughout (easily traversed stairwells and logically laid out spaces).

The schematic includes most of the surrounding water features and was copied out of the landscape from the bottom right corner of the estate (waterfall) at what should probably be grass level. It will rise up about 50 blocks taller than that (if not a bit more) and probably have some straight walls to blend into your environment should you choose to use this.

Please let me know what you think.

Its a good house architecturally, the exterior is good. Maybe you could use a texture pack and the right materials the build the house. Its great for your first upload.

The only thing I don't like is the furnishings, it is empty and boring. Some of the things are out of place. You also need to create some patterns and not just leave an empty space because you don't know what to fill in it. Take a look at some other good modern houses from good builders and you can sort of try to imitate them. One good example is inHaze's waterfront home, which is massive but he still manages to fill as much stuff in.

There are others that are good as well, but I don't quite like their building style. inHaze's one is great and simple.
I have seen others such as Kielbasa, who is actually a really good builder. But I don't really like his building style, a bit complicated in my opinion. It takes practice, I started building as a very bad builder but I gradually improved.
