Devil's Menace (Pirate Ship)
« on: February 12, 2012, 02:54:42 PM »
Hey guys! Finally finished a pirate ship I've been working on for over a month! It's a four ,masted ship with 9 square sails, 6 jib, and one spanker sail. I tried to make it as realistic as possible. The ship has a few decks, including captain's cabin and cannon decks, but they are unfurnished as it allows the players to use their creativity and decorate it anyway they like. Thanks for reading and comments are suggestions are appreciated and needed!

Note: The schematic contains water.

A couple questions from a new person to Minecraft and building. First off I do have the schematic to blueprint software so I've gotten that far. I would like to build this on my own creative server with the help of friends.

Would you find a body of water and block it off so make room for building the ship?
How many blocks does the ship 'sit' deep in the water to make sure I don't build it too high or low out of the water?
Could you give us a rough idea on total length and width of ship?

Thanks and awesome job,

mshort

Hi there,

When I build my ships I usually build them on land and then import them in water with MCedit. If you want to import the schematic, you may want to do it on something that goes with the theme, in this case, an ocean due to the large size of the ship.

It is 8 blocks deep in the water, though it could be less.

The hull itself from all the way back to the bowsprit is 85 blocks long. In the widest part of the ship it is 17 blocks wide.

-Changed Netherrack to Bedrock
-Added and fixed a few more blocks

Great job, it's awesome. Would you mind if I use it in an adventure map that I'm making? I sent you a PM.

I hate to ask this, but, how are you supposed to use this schematic? I have minecraft for Xbox 360, and thought that this would only be blocks or something similar posted on lined graph paper to show how many blocks would be used. I have seen at least one person build a ship like this from scratch saying he used this schematic and gave the link to it, but once I looked up how to download and open the file and from the way it is described it looks like you have to have the computer version??? I would appreciate it if someone could help me out with this.
