Ok so I plugged this into my actual single player word with the best optimal location scenarios and I have new numbers:
Flatworld: 15367 I/H
Normal world: 8003 I/H

The first thing I want to note is that this station is meant to be submerged so that the layer with the gold ring is the first layer above water.

This station is also conveniently only:
73L x 73w x 61H

Which makes it fairly easy to fit in a normal world. this may also work like is is connected to a bridge from a cliff edge. but that will take some editing.

Anyways this is a Piston trap that uses a large lava blade and fall on fence grinder. Special thanks to Sinstrite for showing me where to find a world save of his grinder, The Orb V2. My towers are based off his design.

features:
  • Toggle collect-dispose switch
  • slightly hidden entrance via ladders from the channels
  • A glass viewing platform that sits over the lava blade for all your sadist pleasures ;)
  • multiple chests for storage
  • cool unique design to impress your friends

THIS SPAWNER WILL NOT SPAWN SLIMES OR SPIDERS. However the occasional squid may spawn in the fence trap but I don't think it affects production rates.

I hope you enjoy and let me know what you think ;)

Just a reminder I would like to hear your thoughts and suggestions. Also I realized the picture of the viewing platform conveniently has a dieing creeper in it lol

So if people leave comments telling me what they think, lets say 5, I will upload a picture and schematic of a single tower so people can see what I did

Looks, and not sure if this is something you usually say with a mob spawner, lol, beautiful.  Nice job on this.

Thanks to both of you.
Fallen:
I built this with the goal of making it look cool. I hate grinders that are giant cobblestone boxes. I always felt they scarred the natural beauty of minecraft.

Ddrght:
You will have best results in the ocean with no dark spaces surrounding a 144 block radius. If you don't do that then you can expect an average of 8000 items per hour instead

i downloaded this spawner in hopes of changing it to keep the mobs instead of killing them. i see your technique of getting mobs into one spot. but i don't know where you get your figures for items per hour. i sat there for 5 minutes and only got about 40 items doing the math that is like 480 items per hour...

I designed it in a perfect world senario. I got 8000 when it was 300blocks out to sea and there were no dark areas within 140 blocks in any direction from the grinder. I filled the underground will stone. Those were my testing scenarios. That is how I got the numbers. I can load up a world save so you can see what I did if you like.

Also this is pretty piston heaven so you might want to check for frozen pistons. That could be your problem

I discovered a serious issue in the towers. The ice blocks under the grinders seem to like to melt and is screwing production rate. Will fix this then update the schematic.

Thanks for this. I've been looking for a new mob grinder since my last one didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped....

Yours fits the bill almost perfectly!

Thanks I appreciate that. Although make sure you go in and fix all the towers. Just replace the ice next to the lava with iron blocks and you should be good to go.
