Captain's Award: Warship, Galleon, Xebec, and Trading Vessel
« on: December 24, 2011, 07:01:16 PM »
Hey guys, here are some ships I've made in the past few days. Tell me what you think please! By the way, I'm new here so if the pictures are too big, please tell me how to fix them just like everyone else.

Note: All the ships are unfurnished as I am not a very good interior decorator and I would like each player to decorate the interior anyway they want.

Warship

Consists of 10 square sails, 8 jib sails, and 1 spanker sail. This one comes in two styles, white sails and black sails. My personal favorite is the one with black sails.

[

Spoiler

Galleon

6 square sails, 6 jib sails, and 1 spanker sail.

Spoiler

Xebec

Smaller than my two other big ships. Consists of three masts with three lateen sails, just like a standar Xebec.

Spoiler

Coastal Trading Vessel

This is a medium size trading vessel. It's a shame that you can't plaint wooden planks, otherwise it would look so much better. That's why I used wool. It has two square sails, two jibs, and one spanker sail.

Spoiler

Small ship<----First ship ever, that's why it looks weird

Spoiler

Please leave suggestions. Thanks for watching!

I would like to suggest however that you include the statements that the schematics contain bedrock (which i would recommend changing into dispensers pointed away from the ship) and that the ships are unfurnished (not a bad thing as it allows for my own creativity. bwah ha ha ha!).

Thank you very much for reminding me all this, I usually do it. And I changed the bedrock  cannons to dispensers. I uploaded the new schematics. :)

Perhaps you are right, pictures of real ships show the sails less curvy and more flattened. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll try to change that for my next ships!

Sorry for replying so late! Holidays!, OK,  tall, from the lowest point to the highest mast it is about 68 blocks high, when you submerged it in water it should get lowered about 5-9 blocks I think, so it won't reach height limit. In lenght, from the rear spanker to the very tip of the ship it is about 92 blocks long. And finally it is about 25 blocks wide ( a bit wide).

Thanks mate! And yes the small ship was my first ship, looks weird :P
I will try and change it a bit to see if it looks better. I just don't really want to change it much because I like to see the progression of my builds and how I have got better at building these ships.

Thanks guys. I'm working on a pirate ship which hopefully will have a better and more realistic looking hull and better sails than all my previous ships.

may i suggest it to be of a brigantine style as it was the most common ship type for pirates to employ

Good suggestion. I will make a brigantine pirate ship after the Galleon pirate ship I'm making... which by the way I just lost the save file. Lucky for my I have a ton of screenshots which means I can remake it... hopefully the hull will be as good. But it's gonna have to wait a while now cause I have to restart. :(

Could I use your Xebec ship schematics for my new adventure map? I will credit you for the ship, of course.

Im building the warship in multiplayer and i doubt i can get the 272 iron blocks needed.  Do you think white wool is a nice substitute?
